Exterior view of the renovated modern craftsman home in Greenwood

Exterior and energy upgrades

Modern craftsman exterior with efficient upgrades

The home was reimagined with a modern craftsman look that kept a familiar Seattle neighborhood character while giving the property a cleaner and more updated presence. Bold exterior color, crisp trim, and a balanced front elevation help create the curb appeal.

Solar panels, an EV charger, custom landscaping, and a distinctive front-yard shed with a living roof make the exterior feel intentionally designed rather than simply refreshed.

Kitchen detail showing cabinetry, counters, and backsplash

Kitchen craftsmanship

Custom kitchen details built for everyday use

The kitchen includes a concealed breakfast bar cabinet, quartz work surfaces, under-cabinet outlets, LED lighting, custom Barcelona tile, and quartz window sills. These details keep the room clean visually while making the kitchen more useful day to day.

The backsplash was treated as a design feature, with outlets hidden below the cabinets so the tile can read as one continuous finish.

Open-concept living, dining, and kitchen area

Main level planning

Open kitchen, dining, and living area

The main level was designed around one connected kitchen, dining, and living space. The kitchen acts as the center of the home, while the dining and living areas remain visually connected to patio access, natural light, and the yard.

This layout makes the home feel larger, brighter, and better suited for entertaining, family life, and everyday movement through the main floor.

Family room area with built-in bar

Interior warmth

Walnut floors and a custom family room bar

Real walnut floors add warmth and character through the interior. At the back of the home, the family room includes a custom bar designed as a built-in feature rather than a standard cabinet installation.

The bar uses butcher block, open shelving, and metal supports that coordinate with the faucet finish, giving the room a crafted and personal detail.

Living area within the basement ADU

Lower-level living

Basement ADU with flexible living space

The lower level includes a basement ADU with its own living area, kitchen, bedroom, bathroom, and laundry function. It adds a separate living environment within the property rather than feeling like leftover basement space.

One distinctive feature is the stained original concrete floor with a clear finish, preserving part of the home’s older structure while giving the ADU a unique finish.

Primary bedroom suite with high ceiling

Private suite

Primary suite, bathroom, and built-in storage

The primary suite was designed to feel grand and complete, with high ceilings, a walnut beam, layered lighting, and a connected bathroom and walk-in closet. The bathroom includes a long shower layout, bench, double vanity, and two shower heads.

Deep recessed medicine cabinets, interior lighting, outlets, shoe storage, and tailored closet zones show how the private spaces were planned with the same care as the public rooms.

Bathroom vanity and shower area in the renovated home

Bathroom work

Bathrooms and private room finishes

Bathroom and bedroom spaces were treated as part of the full-home scope. Custom tile, updated fixtures, storage planning, and clean finish work help the private rooms feel consistent with the rest of the renovation.

The bathrooms show the level of detail that can go into smaller rooms, where tile, glass, fixtures, cabinetry, and transitions all need to be carefully coordinated.

Stamped patio and stonework in the backyard

Outdoor living

Outdoor living, stonework, and landscaping

The backyard was treated as another major part of the renovation. The outdoor space includes a stamped concrete patio designed to resemble cobblestone, basalt stone retaining walls, and an integrated stone bench built into the wall.

A bamboo garden with integrated lighting adds privacy, texture, and atmosphere, helping the yard feel like an extension of the renovated home.

Progress view of the deck and shed below the DADU

Site planning and outdoor function

Detached DADU with deck and shed integration

This project was not only a detached backyard living unit. It also included a custom deck with a shed built underneath it, giving the site layered functionality and better use of the available footprint. This layered scope added another level of construction coordination beyond a standard DADU build.

The elevated deck, the enclosed storage below it, and the surrounding stairs work together as one outdoor area.

Kitchen inside the View Ridge DADU

Kitchen design

Kitchen planning in a small footprint

The kitchen is one of the best features of the DADU. Even in a compact room, the layout fits a standard-size refrigerator, dishwasher, and an apartment-size range. A large window, generous natural light, and open shelving on both sides keep the compact kitchen bright and practical.

Every inch of this small footprint was put to use, so the compact kitchen packs a lot of punch.

Custom storage built below the staircase in the DADU

Custom carpentry

Custom carpentry and built-in storage

This project includes several carpentry details worth noting. Built-in cabinetry under the staircase includes a custom triangular storage door and matching trim detail. These are small but highly visible touches that make the interior feel custom rather than generic.

Every available area was used for function, which is especially important in a compact detached dwelling.

Vertical Murphy bed built for the DADU

Flexible living solutions

Vertical Murphy bed for flexible living

One of the standout custom features is the first Murphy bed, built in a vertical configuration. It folds into the wall so the room can shift between sleeping space and open floor area. This type of space-saving furniture is especially valuable in a smaller DADU where every room may need to serve more than one purpose.

Silver Peak built the Murphy beds for this project, creating a tailored solution instead of relying on standard cabinetry or prefabricated storage.

Horizontal Murphy bed built for the DADU office guest room

Office and guest space

Horizontal Murphy bed and office / guest room flexibility

The second Murphy bed is even more distinctive. It was custom made as a horizontal Murphy bed to fit the client’s room layout and specifications. Its unusual orientation makes it a memorable example of custom problem solving for a tight room layout.

Most of the year, that room works as a clean, functional office. When guests visit, the bed folds down and the space becomes a guest bedroom. It shows how the project delivers flexible living without wasting square footage.

Exterior view showing the height and entry sequence of the DADU

Exterior and bathroom details

Exterior character and compact bathroom design

The overall exterior composition, new concrete stairs, and tall entry sequence give the DADU a unique architectural presence.

Inside, Silver Peak designed a three-quarter bath upstairs and a powder room downstairs, so even the smallest spaces feel complete and usable.

Overall view of the Greenwood bathroom and laundry renovation showing the curbless shower entry and divided layout

Bathroom and laundry planning

Compact layout planned for everyday use

This Greenwood project was clarified as a bathroom and laundry renovation because the space needed to solve more than a single bathroom update. The room had to support bathing, storage, circulation, privacy, and laundry-related utility in one compact footprint.

The laundry functions as a hallway into the bathroom, and two pocket doors divide the spaces for privacy. The layout uses partial-height divider walls to organize the room without closing it off completely. That separation helps the shower, vanity, toilet, and laundry zones each feel intentional while still keeping the overall space open and easy to move through.

Custom vanity in the Greenwood bathroom with warm wood finish and integrated sink

Vanity and finish character

Custom wheelchair-accessible vanity

The vanity was designed so that someone in a wheelchair can roll their knees under it while washing their hands. The vanity area gives the room a warmer and more custom feel. The wood counter, integrated sink, simple wall lights, and red trim detail help the space feel designed rather than treated as a basic utility room.

This is an important part of the project because compact bathrooms can easily feel purely functional. Here, the vanity adds visual character while still keeping the sink area practical for daily use.

Curbless shower area with grab bars, bench, and tile surround in the Greenwood bathroom renovation

Shower and accessibility

Curbless accessible shower with durable tile work

The curbless shower provides step-free entry and was treated as a long-term performance space. Large-format wall tile, a glass partition, a handheld fixture, grab bars, and a bench make the shower more comfortable, durable, and easier to use.

The finished shower keeps the design simple and clean while adding practical features that support safety and day-to-day function. These details help the room feel more complete than a standard cosmetic remodel.

Toilet zone with upper cabinet storage in the Greenwood bathroom renovation

Storage and organization

Toilet zone with upper storage and clean detailing

The toilet area was planned as its own finished zone rather than leftover space. The upper wood cabinet provides useful storage, while the surrounding wall surfaces, fixture placement, and accessories keep the area clean and organized.

This kind of detail matters in a smaller bathroom and laundry room because every wall and corner has to work harder. Storage, privacy, and fixture placement all contribute to making the room feel considered from end to end.

Laundry appliance integrated into the Greenwood bathroom and laundry renovation

Laundry integration

A laundry hallway with two pocket doors

The laundry component is one of the reasons this project should be described as more than a bathroom remodel. Appliance placement, clearances, floor durability, access, and storage all had to be considered within the hallway leading into the bathroom.

The completed space shows the laundry function as part of the overall plan rather than an afterthought. It supports real household use while still maintaining the finish quality expected in a renovated bathroom.

Built-in shelving and storage details in the Greenwood bathroom and laundry renovation

Built-ins and final details

Shelving, lighting, and finish details complete the room

Built-in shelving, wood doors, tile flooring, lighting, and storage details help the room feel complete. The shelves add useful organization, while the warm wood tones and red edge accents connect the different parts of the room visually.

The final result is a compact bathroom and laundry space that balances utility with design. The project shows how a small service area can become a polished, organized, and durable part of the home.

A rare Tudor home with a unique architectural identity

Tudor house character

A rare Tudor home with a unique architectural identity

This Tudor home reflects a Northern European architectural style that feels uncommon in Seattle. The steep gables, brick walls, and distinctive trim made the home stand out right away, which is why the remodel needed to preserve the character instead of flattening it into a generic exterior update.

Brick cleaning and re-tuck-pointing throughout the exterior

Brick restoration

Brick cleaning and re-tuck-pointing throughout the exterior

A major part of the project was restoring the brick envelope. The mortar was badly aged and, in some areas, the bricks were close to failing, so the masonry had to be cleaned and the joints carefully rebuilt.

Re-tuck-pointing the brick gave the walls structural stability again while also sharpening the look of the exterior. The same restoration continued around the chimney and side walls, not just the front facade.

Gables, stucco, and detailed trim rebuilt with care

Stucco and trim restoration

Gables, stucco, and detailed trim rebuilt with care

The gables and upper wall sections also needed significant attention. Rotten wood was removed, trim pieces were rebuilt, and the stucco was redone so the Tudor detailing would feel crisp again instead of tired or patched together.

The rounded and angled wood details required especially careful custom cuts.

Entry improvements and a rebuilt laundry-room door

Laundry access update

Entry improvements and a rebuilt laundry-room door

The remodel also included work at the laundry-room entry. This door area was rebuilt and fitted with a new door, improving both function and the finished appearance of the service-side access point.

Turquoise tub and shower tile with black fixtures in the Bitter Lake bathroom remodel

Shower design

A sleek shower shaped by the homeowner’s vision

The shower was built around the homeowner’s vision of a sleek, colorful tile wall, with wood-look tile niches and sharp, contrasting black hardware. The niches match the flooring, which ties the whole room together no matter where you look.

Smart mirror, medicine cabinet, and vanity

The vanity pairs a dark counter and white cabinet with an under-mount sink and black hardware. Above it, the smart mirror is also a medicine cabinet: the wall behind it was reframed to make full use of the available space.

Open shelving, sink wall, and cabinetry in the Licton Springs kitchen remodel

Kitchen design

A compact kitchen designed to feel open, warm, and practical

This compact kitchen delivers impactful daily functionality. The remodel brings together blue lower cabinets, lighter wood upper cabinets, open shelving, a bright backsplash, and clean counters so the room feels layered without becoming visually overwhelming.

The contrast between the painted base cabinets and the warm wood details gives the kitchen personality, while the matching sink countertop and backsplash keep it feeling calm and usable.

Custom dining solution

A custom oak table and built-in bench solved the space problem

A custom oak table with a built-in bench solved the room’s tight dining-space challenge, creating a more efficient eating area directly within the kitchen.

Kitchen details

Clean backsplash, open storage, and appliance zones sharpen the finish work

The stove wall, backsplash, and open shelving bring out this kitchen’s personality, and this section of backsplash still carries the blues from the lower cabinets.

Compact bathroom layout with shower and toilet in the Licton Springs remodel

Bathroom expansion

The tiny bathroom was expanded into the hallway and kids’ bedroom

The original bathroom was a tiny room that needed to feel larger and become more functional. To make that happen, the remodel borrowed space from the hallway and part of a kids’ bedroom, allowing the finished bath to function as a true full bathroom while feeling far more spacious than before.

That extra space made room for a better layout and improved comfort.

Shower window and tile detail in the expanded Licton Springs bathroom

Bathroom light and layout

A shower window helps the compact bath feel brighter and more open

A window within the shower brings valuable natural light into the small room. In a room this small, natural light becomes part of the design strategy because it keeps the enclosure from feeling boxed in.

The glass shower wall, vertical tile, and window placement work together to visually stretch the room and make the finished space feel cleaner and more open.

Built-in bathroom shelves and storage in the Licton Springs remodel

Built-in storage

Built-in shelves made the enlarged bath more useful

Built-in shelving uses about a foot of former hallway space to add valuable storage without cluttering the bathroom.

That kind of decision is a good example of practical remodeling: small layout adjustments can dramatically improve storage, organization, and everyday usability in a compact bathroom.

More from this bathroom

Double sink wood vanity beside the shower

The double vanity

The warm wood vanity gives the room character and a natural finish. Two sinks give people room to get ready at the same time, and the small patterned floor tile adds detail without competing with the wood.

Tiled shower with glass panel and daylight from the window

A bright shower

The large tile gives the shower a clean, quiet look. Two sides are glass from top to bottom, the clear shower wall and the window, so daylight fills the space.

Living room with skylights and hardwood flooring in the Haller Lake interior remodel

Overall interior scope

A broad interior remodel across most of the home

The living room photos show the scale of the interior work with finished hardwood flooring, a long open room, recessed lighting, large windows, and two skylights.

Living room opening and interior hallway view in the Haller Lake remodel

Main living area

Skylights and clean finishes made the living room feel larger and brighter

The living room became one of the project’s defining spaces. The skylights, clean wall planes, recessed lighting, and large glass openings made the room feel bright and open, while the hardwood flooring added warmth throughout the interior.

This part of the project shows the value of updating the whole interior environment. The goal was not only to remodel isolated features, but to make the home feel more complete and comfortable from room to room.

Custom wood floor vent built into the hardwood floor

Custom wood detail

A custom hardwood floor vent shows the level of finish work

A custom wooden floor vent demonstrates the level of care carried into the finish work. Rather than using a standard metal vent, the vent was built into the hardwood so it reads as part of the finished floor.

This kind of small detail helps tell the larger craftsmanship story. It shows that the remodel included not only major rooms and fixtures, but also the finish-level decisions that make an interior feel intentionally built.

Guest bathroom with glass shower and vanity in the Haller Lake remodel

Guest bathroom

A three-quarter guest bath with shower and custom light detail

The bathroom includes a glass shower, clean tile work, a vanity, and a custom window or skylight condition in the shower. That natural-light detail gives the compact bath a more special and finished feel.

Skylight above the glass shower in the Haller Lake guest bathroom

Shower window detail

Custom shower windows and skylight-style openings became a key feature

The shower window detail was important because it is unusual. The window and skylight condition brings light from above and makes the bathroom feel more open.

That detail is important because bathrooms can easily feel closed off. Here, the window and shower glass help bring in light while still keeping the room functional and private.

Primary bathroom double vanity with custom cabinetry and built-in medicine cabinets

Primary bathroom cabinetry

Custom cabinets, double vanity, and built-in medicine cabinets

The primary bathroom included custom cabinets, a double vanity, double sinks, and built-in medicine cabinets. The medicine cabinets were recessed into the wall instead of simply mounted on the surface, which gives the room a cleaner and more custom look.

Both bathrooms in this house used custom cabinetry. The primary bath photos show that detail clearly, especially in the cabinet layout, sink wall, mirror placement, and integrated storage.

Primary shower with in-shower dryer, two shower heads, and accessible details

Accessible shower feature

Two shower heads and an in-shower dryer supported accessibility

One of the most unique details in the project was the in-shower drying system. The homeowner needed a way to dry off without using a towel, so the shower includes an integrated warm-air drying system.

The shower also included two shower heads and careful fixture placement. This is a strong example of adapting a bathroom around real personal needs while still keeping the finished space polished and custom.

Entry update

A new front door completed the interior and entry story

The new front door has a beautiful stain-grade finish. The natural wood adds warmth to the entry.
